Our first route Chamonix - Plateau d'Assy is an absolutely unique phenomenon. Exclusivity lies in the combination of geographical, ethnographic and highly artistic contexts. Our path runs through unique landscapes among the landscapes of the Mont Blanc massif and phenomenal natural objects, through ethnic villages, past the ruins of ancient times and the Middle Ages to the temple that has no analogues in the whole world - Notre Dame of Our Lady of All Virtues, built by the great artists of the 20th century - Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger, Hermine Richier, Fyodor Stravinsky, Henri Matisse, and other authors of the image of the era.
1. Let's start the route with a tour of Chamonix
We meet in the city center on the bridge opposite the casino, and set off on the route with quick excursion, during which we will talk about the history of the city and the valley, and see some unique structures hidden from prying eyes.
2. Through Legion to Les Houches
The Legion area is known for its natural climbing wall, two picturesque lakes, and one architectural landmark - a pseudo-Gothic pseudo-ruin, that is, a structure that has never been a building, originally built as a "romantic ruin" to enrich the landscape.
3. Ascent to the pass to the village of mountain shepherds
We go up the mountains, where the e-bike is the main transport, to the alpine zone. Highways do not lead to the hidden village with its interesting ancient houses of very bizarre architecture. Further, the road leads to the descent, and through the original village of Vodan, we descend to Servoz, the first village of the Chamonix valley.
4. The haunted castle
On the way to the village of Servoz, we can stop by the ruins of the castle of Saint-Michel, which in the 13th century was a kind of citadel that locked the entire Chamonix valley.
5. From old Servoz to Green Lake
From the old Servoz, we ascend to Lemont, with its historical landmark - the Lieutenant's House, a unique "high-rise building" of the 14th century, and, enjoying the vibes of ancient Savoy, shepherd's bells, through the wild forest, we get to the Green Lake, where we are convinced that it is, in fact, green.
6. Cathedral of Our Lady of the Alps
From the Green Lake we traverse along terraced paths and a new suspension bridge to the Plateau d'Assy. In addition to the fact that Marie Curie died here in a sanatorium, this plateau and its town of the same name is famous for its unique temple, the only one in the world.
